Our re arranged Christmas golf day at Sleaford Golf Club to place on Thursday 10th March.
Firstly we would like to thank Ian Batty and his staff for a very well turned out course so early in the season, also to the catering staff for a great steak pie which always goes down well with the odd pint or two. Many thanks to the sponsors, Rigby Taylor and Mansfield Sands. I would also like to take this opportunity to wish Allan Martin good luck in his new venture back in the turf industry. I’m sure most of you who have dealt with Allan in the past and will soon be seeing his smiling face again. Very best wishes from us all and the east of England section. Please find below a few photos from the prize giving. Results Immingham Golf Club Results were as follows; 1st Rob Bemment, Immingham; 2nd Russ Moody, Torksey; 3rd Chris Goodall, Elsham; 4th Bryan Robinson, Belton Woods. Trade prize, Gary Cooper. Nearest the pin was John Hewson, Market Rasen. Unfortunately nearest the pin in 2 was hijacked by someone called Phil McCracken, a joke that went unnoticed until the prizes were about to be given out! A mention must also go to Jim Dempster for a hole in one on the 12th. Many thanks to Steve and the lads for a great days golf on a very well turned out course. The meal was excellent, plenty to fill all including Russ Moody!! Thank you to our sponsor LMS for the great table of prizes. Thank you Nigel Thank you to Gareth and staff for a very well presented course, and the food was excellent. Congratulations to Ian Collett in winning the order of merit for the trade, very close again this year Ian, it could not have gone to a nicer chap you are certainly getting too much golf!! Sorry no pics had a computer crach i will try to get some from Nigel. TRADE V GREENKEEPERS Held at Gainsborough Golf Club. Well they have done it again. The greenkeepers have given the trade a pasting 5-1. To say I’m gutted is an understatement, and as far as that little Wiesel Allan Walker our beloved chairman cheated me by playing G. Mac with himself which left a 61 year old cripple to play on his own. I thought those odds were a little unfair Allan? I shall be looking to have a few tricks of my own next year. Fair play to G.Mac he played a fantastic round of golf it was a pleasure to watch. At the end of the day the trade took the defeat gracefully, well done Allan and greenkeepers it was a great day’s golf. Many thanks to Course manager John Evison for a nicely turned out golf course. Special thanks go to Dave Fanning and Ping for the great table of prizes. I look forward to seeing you all at Orton Meadows Golf Course on Wednesday 12th October. Regards Gary Cooper I think we could have a bit of a poser here!! Results from Orton Meadows Golf Day 1st Steve Hopkins Burghley Park GC 45 points. Well done Steve, according to my records this man should be a scratch golfer by now? Burghley must be allowing you plenty of golf. 2nd Phil, Head Greenkeeper Orton Meadows 39 points 3rd Robert Welford Cleethorpes Golf Club 35 points Trade: Gary Cooper STG Amenity Supplies 39 points 2nd Carl Chamberlain Rigby Taylor 35 points. Many thanks to Phil and the lads for a nicely turned out course with water hazards following you all around the course. The food was excellent, and we all loved the triple helpings of chips. Could anyone supply our beloved chairman with some NXT golf balls as Orton Meadows has his golf balls in abundance? Many thanks to our sponsor Collier Turf Care as allways nice prizes. I look forward to seeing you all @ Belton Park on the 8th December. Please note first tee time will be 10.am, please allow plenty of traveling time if you require a coffee and bacon bap on arrival.
