A diary of the lives of some of our members, a insight into peoples lives inside and outside of work. |
Saturday: My turn to work today there was a bit of a dew so switched the greens, tidied the bunkers up, moved the tee markers and blew a few greens off that had leaves on. Got home about half 8 the Nicola was still in bed so got a few jobs around the house out of the way before she got up. Had a busy day planned so popped into town to sort some banking out (we both had our cards cloned and our money stolen the week before so had to sort a few things out), had a look around all the important shops: New Look, Dorothy Perkins etc. and then went to Lambs to buy a new fire place, £85 lighter we headed home to fit it. I then dropped Nic off at her mums and headed down to the football Stamford V Grantham, well worth going we stuffed them 4 0 and the had several of our old players playing for them so it was all the better. Headed back over to Nics mums and jumped straight into the shower and got ready for her Aunts 60th birthday party, several pints and lots of food later went to bed at 1. After getting up at 6 it was a long day. Sunday: Woke up at 9 with a nasty headache must have slept funny! Had a shower and went shopping isn't Sainsburys a lovely place at half 10 with a hangover. Headed back home met up with my sister and spent a couple of hours over at Burghley House for the wedding show they had on, neither Nicola or my sister seemed very sympathetic about my hangover so cheered myself up with the free champagne and cakes. Got back home just in time for the Chelsea Man U game watched the 1st half and started cooking Sunday dinner for 4 as Nics mum and dad had come round. The 2nd half of the football was a bit more entertaining especially seeing Man U lose and get a bit upset. Decided to test out the new fire place so chopped up some logs and made a fire looked quite good when it got going. Had a early night in the end went to bed about 10. Monday: Got up and made my lunch and had breakfast. Arrived at work and went straight out and cut the greens was a bit fresh this morning. After tea break i went out and blew some leaves off some of the tees until lunch. Steve from Cottesmore came over to see us in the afternoon to have a bit of training for his NVQ 3 so i took him out and showed him how to use the scarifier and then for the rest of the afternoon we filled in a trench around the 18th green. Got home and had tea Nic was at a meeting till half 8 so got all the football watched that i recorded over the weekend and then made her something to eat when she got in. Tuesday: Got to work and went round with Tom and Will first thing and switched all the greens, moved the tee markers, trimmed round the holes and raked the bunkers. Tom and i then took out a couple of winter tee mats and put them at the 1st. We then spent the rest of the morning blowing leaves. We also spent the afternoon blowing leaves, the joys of autumn. Arrived home and had a quick bath and changed ready to go to the football, away at Belper. A wet drizzly evening in Belper was thoroughly enjoyable as we drew 3 3 and it was a very entertaining game to watch. got home about half 11. Wednesday: Got up about 9 days off are great, had a play about on the website for a while before heading out to Nicolas work to help put some locks on the doors to stop the children opening them not bad only managed to take us 2 hours to do it. Didnt really do to much for the rest of the day ended up going round to a friends down the road to put a bit of fertiliser on his lawn to see him through the winter and then sat around at home watchin films, i mean working hard till Nicola got home productive day Not. Thursday: For a change this morning i went out with Will and blew the leaves out of the bunkers and raking them didnt take too long tho and i went out about 9 and cut round the aprons whilst Will blew leaves off the tees i then cut the tees and moved the tee markers onto the winter tees. Spent the afternoon finishing off the tees and blowing some leaves from some of the worse areas on the course luckily not many left now so soon be finished. Got home and cooked tea for me and Nic and did a bit more for my college work. Friday: Was chucking it down when we got to work so did a bit of college work while waiting for it to stop it didnt last too long and we soon got out and changed the holes. Steve came over about 9 and we went out and helped him plant a tree on the golf course for his NVQ spent the rest of the morning cutting and marking the new areas of tee on the 1st and 10th greens as GUR. Rained all afternoon so managed to get some more work done on the computer. Got home and prepared dinner for me and Nicola and then sat and had a few drinks watching tv just chilling out for a change. |
